Get Help in Becoming Licensed

Child care provider and child

Obtaining a Child Care License is required by California law to provide protective, preventive and quality experiences to children in care. The process includes monitoring of facilities, technical assistance and partnerships with providers to assure that established health and safety standards are maintained.

CDRC can walk you through the licensing process, either on the phone or in person.

CPR/First Aid and Preventative Health Certifications

CDRC can help child care providers gain access to the required Pediatric CPR/First Aid and Preventative Health classes. Call us for more information.

Reimbursement

Through the Health and Safety Training Reimbursement Program, CDRC may issue a partial reimbursement to child care providers based upon successful completion of Pediatric CPR/First Aid and Preventive Health Classes.

California Child Care Initiative Project (CCIP)

CDRC offers the Child Care Initiative Project through a grant funded by the California Department of Education. CCIP is designed to increase the supply and improve the quality of infant/toddler care in Santa Cruz County.

CCIP offers participants:

  • On-going support to become licensed & pre-licensing home visits
  • Advice on setting up a family child care business
  • Technical assistance and one-on-one consultation
  • Incentives for completing hours of training and reaching program goals
  • Free training on such topics as: Setting Up and Operating a Strong Family Child Care Business. The Developmental Needs of Children, Infant/Toddler Care, Provider Support and Professionalism, Trauma Informed Care.
  • Support to new, as well as existing family child care providers and their assistants
